getting into gaming with beginner knowledge is hard
I feel like if you have not been gaming for a while and don't know the "basics" it's hard to have fun. Some games nowadays don't offer you much in the tutorial or don't give one at all. They just expect you to know. Which sucks for a lot of people. Especially those that are just getting into gaming. What happened to showing how to do things...
I know just a little bit because I have played games here and there throughout my childhood, but I still get confused on all the UI, other systems, and terminologies. I've quit playing many games that I initially had so much interest in because I kept dying and I did not understand what I needed to do. Skill issue? Maybe. Even still, if I had a better understanding or explanation for certain mechanisms I might have stuck around for a little longer. Even when I would go search beginner tutorials on YouTube, all I saw were people saying to do this and that without explaining much. They would also use words that I didn't know and for certain settings they would recommend, they wouldn't show how to navigate to that setting. Of course this is not everyone, but, in my case, the majority was like that when I was looking.
One solution is to start off with the basic games that teach you these things, but I am impatient and picky about games that I play. If a certain art style is not appealing to me, I will not play. Very "judging a book by it's cover" but the visual appeal needs to be there for me to have an interest in playing. A lot of those basic games are also sometimes just. boring (subjective).
